2008-2009 MACY Award Ceremony - May 17, 2009
MACY (Music and Art Commendation for Youth) Awards recognize, encourage and promote
achievement and excellence in high school musical theatre in Southern California. The MACY judges
spend countless hours each year attending high school musical productions across Los Angeles,
Orange and San Diego counties, and preparing for the Annual MACY Awards Ceremony.
Alex received the 2009 Best Performance by a Male Actor Award for his portrayal of Sweeney Todd
in the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts production of Sweeney Todd.
Elise Vannerson of the Orange County High School of the Arts won the award for
Best Performance by a Female Actor for her portrayal of Jo Marsh in Little Women.
