The John Raitt
Awards for Youth (JRAY) ceremony is an annual event that selects
winners in several categories from high school
musical
productions: there are currently 22 school participants
spanning three counties in southern California. Judges visit
each
production selected by the schools and adjudicate each
one using an objective scoring criteria to determine the
various winners.
Schools also present a two to five minute
vignette of their work at the awards ceremony and a panel of
celebrity judges select the
best vignette of the day at the
event. The 2009 JRAY nominees by category
and the winners of all awards can be found
here.
