Eleanor A. (Lian) Hajjar

Mrs. Eleanor A. (Lian) Hajjar, 86, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, formerly of Worcester, MA, where she grew up, passed away on Sunday morning after a brief illness at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

Eleanor was born on February 4, 1924 in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter to the late Joseph and Freda (Halal) Lian. She attended the local schools of Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.  Eleanor worked as an Office Manager for Micromatic for some 14 plus years until her retirement in 1994. She was an attendant of Saint Joseph's Melkite Church in Lawrence, MA. where she was member of the Woman's Guild. Eleanor was also a former member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader, loved cooking and baking and especially enjoyed and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.

She was the wife of the late Mr. Alexander J. Hajjar. Her family members include: Her son: Steven and his wife Mary Lou Hajjar of Salem, NH Her daughter: Lois A. Walworth of Lawrence, MA Her Sister: Adele Azar of Westport, MA Her Brother: Joseph Lian, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Shrewsbury, MA. Her Grandchildren: Timothy and Katherine Hajjar Dennis and Steven Hajjar, Justin, Alyssa and Hannah Walworth. As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends. Eleanor was predeceased by her son Paul J. Hajjar, her son-in-law Kenneth C. Walworth and her sister Yvonne M. Russell.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph's Melkite Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at the United Lebanese Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.
